TREATMENTS I OFFER

Osteopathy

In osteopathy, the horse is viewed as an integrated unit where all parts are expected to function together. The entire individual is treated, rather than focusing solely on isolated symptoms.

Osteopathy aims to address the underlying cause of dysfunction, not merely to suppress symptoms as they arise. It is an excellent method for both the prevention and rehabilitation of injuries.

During an osteopathic treatment, all joints are assessed in all directions of motion before a diagnosis is made. Based on these findings, an appropriate technique is selected to initiate the body’s natural healing processes.

Medical Laser Therapy (LLLT – Low Level Laser Therapy)

Laser therapy is a well-established and evidence-based method with anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, and it promotes tissue healing.

Clinical studies indicate that joint mobilisation combined with medical laser therapy is more effective than joint adjustment alone.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture has a tradition spanning several thousand years and is today a recognised method for, among other things, pain management, reproductive cycle imbalances, improving nutrient supply to cartilage and joints, and enhancing blood circulation in the muscles.

Treatment can be performed using traditional needles or laser acupuncture, which may be preferable for horses that do not tolerate needles.

Massage / Trigger Point Therapy

Massage and trigger point therapy are used to release muscular tension, improve circulation, and restore normal muscular function.

Through targeted manual techniques, pain is reduced, muscle elasticity is improved, and the horse is able to use its body in a more relaxed and efficient manner.

This method is often used as a complement to other treatments to optimise results, for example in cases of compensatory tension, overload, post-exercise recovery, or long-standing dysfunctional movement patterns.

Massage may also have a calming and stress-reducing effect, supporting both recovery and the healing process.

Therapeutic Exercise

Therapeutic exercise consists of an individualised training programme aimed at restoring or improving the horse’s movement patterns, stability, and long-term durability.

The focus is on enabling the horse to carry itself correctly before it is expected to carry a rider or perform more demanding tasks.

Through specific exercises, the deep stabilising musculature is activated, proprioception is improved, and the body learns to function in a more efficient and coordinated manner.

This type of training is used both in rehabilitation following injury and as a preventive measure to reduce the risk of recurring problems.

Each programme is designed based on the horse’s current condition and specific goals. If desired, a practical review of exercises is included in connection with treatment, providing you as the owner with clear tools to continue the work after the session.
